“The Falkland Islands belong to Argentina!” Yair Netanyahu, the spoilt-brat son of Israel’s genocidal leader, crowed in Spanish.
There could scarcely have been a more calculated “up yours” to the British right-wingers who have bent over backwards to defend Israel as it committed every war crime under the sun. “It has been a lonely time to be a friend of Israel of late,” mourned the former Tory MP Sir Conor Burns. “This stupid tweet by the PM’s son will make it even harder.”
When a GB News presenter rather sheepishly challenged him, Netanyahu’s poisonous spawn shot back that the British government was “the awful, communist, Islamist, hostile, antisemitic Labour Party. Not the great Margaret Thatcher or the great Churchill”. Argentina under the far-right demagogue Javier Milei was “a friend of Israel”, he went on, while Britain “is hostile to Israel” and constantly “meddling in our internal affairs”.
Britain’s cheerleaders for Israel are an increasingly fringe tribe, largely confined to the political and media elites, and they must be privately seething at the ingratitude of it all.
